Synopsis

This movie is set in the year 2095, hence the presence of mutant humans and extraterrestrials. The main character is known as Jill (Linda Hardy). She is not human. When she is discovered by Dr Elma Turner (Charlotte Rampling) she is diagnosed as being the most interesting genetic test subject Turner has ever come across. Her organs are not in the right place, she has no memory and she appears, biologically to be only three months old. Turner gives her a break, gives her an identity card and a place to stay, in exchange for being her guinea-pig to work on and discover more about. Nicopol is a frozen prisoner who is due to be released a year after the film is set. There is a problem in the prisoner ward and several are thrown down to grow (dying in the process), including Nicopol (but only his leg). There is a lot more to this story but I can't disclose it in this summary, I don't have the words.

Synopsis

The descendants of the first ones to travel space are regarded as people of lesser worth. Half a millennium after the first ships launched in search of a better life, the Pilgrims still are discriminated. When the Kilrathi declare war against the human race, it is up to Christopher Blair, Pilgrim halfling, to help avoid complete annihilation. Since the Kilrathi managed to conquer a Navcom unit, they know the jump coordinates to Earth. And since the terran fleet is two hours further away from home than the Kilrathi fleet, the only hope of Mankind is to set trust in a Pilgrim, who can astrogate by feeling and does not need a Navcom unit - it's all genetics.

An idyllic small town is rocked when Aubrey Fleming (Lindsay Lohan), a bright and promising young woman, is abducted and tortured by a sadistic serial killer. But one day, Aubrey is abducted and goes missing for awhile, only to be found and revived in a hospital. However, upon waking up, she claims to be a stripper named Dakota and can't figure out why everyone thinks she's this Aubrey person, raising questions as to whether she is suffering from post-traumatic stress or if something more sinister is going on.

Stanislas Borowitz est un flic de la « police des polices » qui use de méthodes particulièrement expéditives pour contrer les ripoux. Certainly not for all tastes, Richard Elfman's delirious and highly surreal little gem is one of the few cult classics to actually live up to its reputation. The loosely structured "narrative" concerns a household of rejects, who one by one, find a doorway in their basement that whisks them off to the 6th Dimension--a far out world of frog headed butlers, topless maids, human chandeliers, and various other misfits, all of whom are lorded over by a sex crazed midget.



In many ways, this film suggests an episode of Looney Tunes as directed by Jean Cocteau. The rich black and white photography, play with human forms, use of simple camera tricks, and childlike painted sets all add to making this an assured and confident piece of filmmaking. To top it all off, the film takes the form of a series of episodic musical numbers harking back to early vaudeville, 1930's musicals, and Bettie Page stag films, each perfectly rendered by Danny Elfman and the Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo (rocking out in all their odd glory). If you are a fan of Midnight Movies like Eraserhead and Rocky Horror Picture Show, or if you appreciate the throwback playfulness of a contemporary like Guy Maddin, then this is the movie for you. This is one of those movies that just has it all. If you're even a remote fan of cult cinema, then you have to own Forbidden Zone. Not just see, just own this movie, as you cannot sustain yourself on just one session. No, you'll need to watch this film time and again, in order to soak it all in and be able to appreciate its madness. Richard Elfman directs, Danny Elfman scores and offers a wild performance as Satan, then you add in The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo, who play numerous roles within the flick. But then you have cult actress Susan Tyrell (Cry-Baby, Flesh & Blood), Fantasy Island star Herve Villechaize, Andy Warhol superstar Viva, and in a small role, the incomparable Joe Spinell (Cruising, Maniac). So the cast is impressive, the music is out of this world, and if you're tired of the same old cinema, this movie has more insanity than a mental institution. A frog dressed as a butler, a topless princess, one bizarre classroom, and The Kipper Kids, all rolled into one motion picture, plus an endless parade of other oddities. Even with all the random, out of control elements thrown together, Forbidden Zone is smooth and enjoyable. Grâce à un canon encore en état de marche et manipulé par Beral, les allemands siégeant dans la ville sont tués. It's generally accepted by moviegoers that sequels to hits are always going to be poor, over-commercialised imitations of the original. Well, for every supposed truism there has to be an exception and Evil Dead II is one sequel that is even better than the original. Not so much a follow-up as a ruthless self-parody, Evil Dead II ranks as one of the most visually inventive, relentless, and truly original films ever made. (BBC)
