"Have I got your attention, mister?" By the time you reach this line in Takashi Miike's Imprint, the answer will be a resounding, horrified "Yes!" This much-rumored-about episode of Showtime's Masters of Horror series became notorious as the first installment to be denied an airing. Now that the hour-long episode is out on DVD, it's not difficult to see why the network balked (although on the other hand, if you have a series called Masters of Horror and you hire the outrageous Takashi Miike to helm a show, nobody should really be surprised). The story follows an American (Billy Drago) on a journey to a ghostly island bordello in Japan; he's searching for a girl he lost years before. The prostitute he meets has stories to tell-and they abound in incest, abortion, murder, and one of the grisliest torture scenes ever produced for a mainstream outlet.

Shottas is not the greatest movie made nor is it the worst movie made. It's an honest effort from a no name director thats trying to make his mark. If you didn't know , Shottas was a huge underground bootleg hit before it finally came officially available thanks to Sony in January of this year. Obviously Sony saw it fit to push this underground classic. West Indians will appreciate this movie more than anyone else because it shows a dark but real side of what goes on in the Jamaican underground crime scene. Yes this is probably the darkest film to come out of Jamaica , but at the same time it also is probably the best. If you keep up with Jamaican cinema you should know most of their gangster films. "The harder they come" , "Third world cop" are more than likely number 2 and 3 under Shottas.

On Homecoming night, Samantha (Mara), Gina (McCormick), and Mindy (Rulin) are having a slumber party at Sam's house due to being black-listed by the sexy football players. Since the dance and game are out of the question, the trio stays up and entertains themselves with Urban Legends..all leading up to BLOODY MARY. With nothing better to do and a whole night to waste, Sam chants "Bloody Mary." Her friends laugh. "Bloody Mary." More laughter. On the third and final "Bloody Mary," the friends are kidnapped by three jocks and return soon thereafter, shaken but well. While she was there she happened upon a mystery that involved a murdered movie actress, and her daughter. Nancy found out her her daughter was, when nobody even knew that the actress had any kids, and the actress's daughter inherited all of the actress's money. At the end of the movie, once they got back home, Ned and Nancy kissed for what I think was their first actual kiss, and right after their quick kiss Nancy's father told her that she had a call from some people in Germany, who were talking about the Loch Ness Monster.
